Governors
As part of Steel City Schools Partnership, the Board of Trustees is legally accountable for the decisions made in all its academies. However, this does not mean the board is required to make them all itself; it can be delegated to the Local School Committees..
The function of the Local School Committee is to work closely with Leaders in the schools, to hold them to account for the school’s performance, oversee the use of resources to ensure value for money and engage with stakeholders. Local Governors challenge the school’s practices and outcomes to ensure they are performing to standard. Having link governors to key areas helps to ensure that all aspects of school performance are considered, reviewed, challenged and held to account.
The documents set out the responsibilities of the Local School Committee. The Code of Conduct sets out the ways in which the governors will work. Details of Local School Committee attendance at meetings and pecuniary interests can also be found on this page. Any correspondence for the governors should be sent directly to the school for the attention of the Chair of Governors, Dave Sandilands.
